Conference Background

The Service-Learning Research conference, held each year at a different location in the United States, presents the most recent breakthroughs in service-learning research at all educational levels (K-12 education, teacher education, and higher education). New research, methodological and theoretical advances, and agendas for studying various aspects of service-learning are presented. The conference provides opportunities to explore a variety of perspectives, including service-learning research from various countries around the world. Previous conferences have been held in Berkeley, California; Nashville, Tennessee; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Greenville, South Carolina.

The theme of the 2005 conference, to be held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, is "Exploring the Premise: Advancing Knowledge & Transforming Lives." The goal continues to be convening service-learning researchers from throughout the world to share research findings, build networks and partnerships, and identify new directions for service-learning research.

Intended Audience

The primary audience for this conference is researchers, policy makers, and others interested in research on service-learning.

Exhibitor Area

Participants may display and distribute information relevant to service-learning research in the exhibitor area. The exhibitor area is reserved primarily for sponsors and others who are paying for the space. An area will be available for handouts from session presenters for those who are not able to attend a particular session but who are interested in receiving copies of the presenter's materials.
